相較於選擇投資海外基金，必須要面臨匯損，以及利率變動的風險，投資存股型的ETF沒有匯損及利率面的干擾，但唯一要擔心的就是股市的波動，此時投資人在權衡時最重要的就是填息的速度，尤其是對於講求變現性高，且要在不虧損前提之下隨時都能自由進出的，這時最重要的就是「填息」的快慢，因為填息才是真正拿到完整的配息，而不是拿了配息，卻被「價損」給吃掉。
金融業者對此分析，尤其是退休族，會更重視填息的速度，因為比起一般的上班族，退休族因為疾病而就醫等臨時狀況更多，手上的股票或ETF、基金等，必須隨時保留能變現的彈性，因此若投資股票，最怕就是被套牢，買ETF也是如此，能否在短時間之內順利的填息，就是退休族在選擇買存股概念的ETF時，非常重要的觀察指標。
舉例來說，為何0056ETF近三年來在市場熱度愈來愈高，更成為繼0050之後，元大旗下規模超過1,000億的ETF，即與其配息率節節高升，同時不僅已連續11年完成填息，填息時間更是年年縮短有關。例如，根據元大內部統計，都在10月下旬配息的0056ETF，從2018年至2020年這三年的填息天數年年大幅縮短，2018年、2019年、2020年的填息天數，分別為122天、72天、41天，也因此，即使在9、10月間0056 ETF曾面臨股價修正，但受益人數還是持續暴增至超過50萬人。
市場人士對此指出，存股型ETF對投資人的號召就看配息率及填息時間，拉高配息率也是非常重要的誘因。例如目前配息率超過7％掛帥的元大高息低波，其配息金額更是三年翻上一倍，2018年每單位配發1.55元、2019年每單位配發1.6元、2020年每單位配發1.7元，今年配息金額更一舉飆升至每單位配發3.15元。
另一方面，存股型ETF的股價表現也考驗發行的投信業者在資產配置上的功力。例如，元大高息低波ETF不僅配息率優異，今年來股價更大漲快三成，優於台股大盤約二成的成長率，最主要在ETF本身的機制上，該檔ETF採取價值投資來作為避險措施，當個股本益比來到偏貴位置時，會透過成分股調整，買低賣高，以降低下跌風險，這對於存股、訴求低風險投資的準退休族而言，又是另一層重要的投資保障。
